Google Material Design

Google recently revealed a visual language design guide: a collection of various design principles to create good designs and keep the experience unified across platforms and  devices. We designers are already aware of these principles thanks to our education in art, but Google brought all those together in one place and crafted a very well detailed guide for everyone.

Written in the stars

Its a well crafted experience on mobile. The concept is quite interesting; the user explores through a three-dimensional map of the night sky with the objective of finding the North Star to reveal the message that a friend or loved one sent.

Its an ingenious and out of the box concept for a simple purpose: to convey a message. It definitely took ‘connecting with far, near and dear ones’ to the next level!

Inspiration for designers is akin to how gasoline fuels a car; it keeps us moving, it keeps us going. What could be more inspiring than exploring new places and trying out different cuisines? Adventure lets you do exactly that with just a click of a mouse! Its a treat for all the couch-adventurers, daydreamers and people who got no time for a quick getaway.

Google Gesture

Google Gesture is a fictional concept inspired by Myo motion. Through the use of an armband bracelet, gestures or sign language is translated into speech. The armband reads the gestures made by the wearer of the band then sends it to an app which then produces the vocal version of the sign language. I hope this one turns into a full-pledged product!

by Indian Ocean

The album was released in March 2000 and went on to become one of the best-loved albums produced in India. Kandisa acquired cult status and propelled Indian Ocean to become one of India’s most original and creative bands.

Music is always a great source of inspiration; I feel energized whenever I get the chance to listen to songs from Kandisa.

Helvetica is a feature-length independent film about typography, graphic design and global visual culture. It examines the proliferation of one typeface as part of a larger conversation about the way type affects our lives. The film is an exploration of urban spaces in major cities and the type that inhabits them. It also features a fluid discussion with renowned designers about their work, the creative process, and the choices and aesthetics behind their use of type.
